Fixed term contracts of employment

The matter is currently under negotiations at the National Employment Council (NEC) for the Energy Industry of Zimbabwe where as the union is negotiating for recognition of an employee who has served 36 months (3 years) as permanent inclusive of the past service.

Employers are arguing that the 36 months should be determined from the date of the agreement.

The negotiating committee of the National Employment Council (NEC) is still seized with the matter. it is important to note that no fixed contracts will be terminated until such a time that there is an agreement at the NEC.
