IndustriALL holds youths HIV and AIDS workshop in Harare

Over 20 youths from unions affiliated to IndustriALL in Zimbabwe last week  participated in  a HIV and AIDS training workshop in Harare.

The training workshop that was facilitated by IndstriALL country coordinator Dennis Mukote (who is also ZEWU national executive member) comprised of  24 youths aged 35 years and below drawn from sectors such energy, chemical, textile and engineering.

The names of unions that participated in the workshop are Zimbabwe, Plastics, Chemical and Allied Workers Union, National Engineering Workers Union, Zimbabwe Textiles Workers Union, National Union of Clothing Industry and Zimbabwe Energy Workers Union.

Among the aspects that were touched at the two day workshop were how to live positively with HIV and AIDS, how to share information on behavioural change, the impact of HIV and AIDS at workplaces and how to equip participants on HIV and AIDS policies.

In an interview after the workshop, Mukote said he was grateful that the participants were able to participate lively and expected them to take what they had learnt to the respective workplaces.

“We are grateful that the workshop went on smoothly….participants will therefore channel what they have acquired to the workplaces.

We hope to have more this kind of workshops in the country soon,”he said.
