NUM Congress held its congress

National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) held a successful congress from 2-6 June 2015 in Johanesburg, South Africa.

The congress, attended by ZEWU President Angeline Chitambo and General Secretary Martin Chikuni, was held under the theme “Back to basics – Members first”.

The president gave a solidarity speech on behalf of IndutriAll Women Executive Committee and congratulated NUM for conducting a successful congress.

The congress was attended by over 700 delegates and international guest from countries such as Canada, Russia, Australia, Spain, Ghana, Nigeria, Democratic republic of Congo (DRC), Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana.

Also present were IndustriAll, Building & Wood Workers International delegates.

The congress evaluated NUM activities for the past 3 yrs and came with resolutions.

The Zimbabwe Energy Workers Union (ZEWU) learnt from NUM in various areas such as administration, finance, networking and trade union participation in socio-economic issues.
