ZEWU 8th National Congress thunders in Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls – The 8th National Congress that officially opened today saw the Rainbow hotel conference room painted red with attendees clad in red regalia.Guest of Honour, Hon Priscah Mupfumira, minister of Public Service, Labour and Social welfare graced the occasion and gave a sterling speech applauding ZEWU for being an outstanding union as evidenced by the congress, its achievements as well as the presence of national, regional and international guests.


The minister bemoaned the silence of workers unions in the face of impending hostility by employers. She said, “it is not the job of the government to fight for the workers but the workers must unite and speak with one voice while the government maintains a neutral position in to bring balance between the employer and the employee.

The minister was accompanied by the Labour Director Mr Vusani who spoke glowingly of ZEWU and its leadership.

Several union leaders took to the podium in solidarity with ZEWU.
