The Zimbabwe Energy Workers Union’s laptop donation has been a success as members especially women are set to benefit through information technology.
The laptops are to enable the executive members to record and keep information including minutes and resolutions that would have been made in meetings with the general membership. In the past executive members were keeping records in notepads.
So far the union has donated laptops in Kwekwe-Munyati,Masvingo, Zvishavane, Gweru, Lowveld, Harare, Chitungwiza, Marondera, Norton, Bindura West, Kariba, Hwange, Karoi, Chinhoyi, Plumtree, Bulawayo, Beitbridge,Nyanga-Rusape and Gwanda.
Said Trustee Peter Shotere:
“We have decided to donate the laptops to enhance effective communication and modernize the keeping of records and minutes by executives branches. Women in particular are set to benefit from the facility, but that does not mean to say other members will be left out….they are going to have access to the gadgets as long as they are accountable.”
So far 20 laptops have been distributed.
The remaining branches that are set to receive the laptops are Mutare, Chipinge, Kadoma, Chegutu and Bindura East.
