The Zimbabwe Energy Workers Union (ZEWU) is saddened by the death of its member Sylvia Maphosa who died on Wednesday August 1, 2018 in Harare’s Central Business district in skirmishes between the security forces and demonstrators.
Sylvia Maphosa who was an active member of the union was employed by the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) in the human resources department.
Maphosa was a staunch member of the union who joined ZEWU in 2003 and remained loyal to the organisation until her untimely death which shocked everyone who knew her as a humble character.
The union therefore calls for a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that those responsible for committing this heinous act are brought to book urgently and face the full wrath of the law.
The union sends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased persons especially to Maphosa family. Your loss is our loss because Cde Maphosa was a staunch member of the union who will be greatly missed by the entire ZEWU family.
We appreciate our leadership and membership for joining the Maposa family in mourning the death of their beloved one. We thank them for such oneness in this painful period.
May Sylvia’s soul rest in eternal peace!
