President Chitambo last week participated in the Rustenburg Alliance Rally march in South Africa. The theme of the march was “Unity and solidarity action in defence of the living wage and for decent work.”
President Chitambo said the march was a successful one and managed to address workers’ concerns.
“It was a NUM organized rally meant to show solidarity over the problems that were recently experienced in South African mines. We also handed over a petition to the South African government, Anglo American and Impala Platinum.
“COSATU Secretary Vavi addressed affiliates gathered urging them to unite and fight the capitalists that are our common enemy.
A report back on challenges being in witnessed in the mines was addressed to the gathering by the deputy president of NUM.”
As ZEWU we are going to show solidarity where they need it…it is upon us in Zimbabwe to fight for a living wage,” said Chitambo.
