ZINWA Manyame catchment elects main workers committee

Zimbabwe Energy Workers Union (ZEWU)

The Manyame Catchment held its elections of the Catchment Workers’ Committee on 22 June 2017. The elections were presided over by Mr. L. Mathaba (HRO –Manyame) and Mr. P. Chenyika (ZEWU Education and Training Officer).

The Electoral College was composed of newly elected Chairpersons from stations as follows;

P. Chagonda (Mvurwi)
B. Sande (Office and Workshops)
C. Chinamasa (Banket/ Murombedzi)
N. Nziramasanga (Marondera)
W. Karoro (Karoi)

The following were duly elected into office;

Chairperson C. Chinamasa
Vice Chairperson P. Chagond
Secretary N. Nziramasanga
Vice Secretary B. Sande
Organizing W. Karoro

After the election, the following comments were made;

Mr. Mathaba

He thanked everyone for their participation and hoped that the new team would learn from their fore bearers and serve the interests of members. He also hoped that the new leadership would be exemplary in their conduct.

He wished them all the best in their new roles.

Mr. P. Chenyika

He thanked the contestants and congratulated the winners. He informed the winners that the new roles demanded total commitment as well as knowledge of the labour statutes to enable them to be able to represent members effectively.

He expressed hope that the Management would facilitate the training of the new office bearers for them to be able to competently execute their mandate in the next two years.

W. Karoro

As outgoing Chairperson, Mr. Karoro thanked everyone for their support during his tenure and assured them that he stands ready to assist them whenever they wished to have his assistance.

C. Chinamasa

The incoming Chairperson thanked all for their support and also thanked the outgoing Chairperson for a job well done and assured him that as Chairperson, he would rely on him for guidance based on his experience.

He also promised to work together with the new team in order to achieve good results on behalf of the members.
